The story behind

The song *Usted* immerses us in the intimate atmosphere of the bolero, a genre that Mexican singer Luis Miguel revitalized with his eighth studio album, titled Romance. This record, released on November 19, 1991, was born from an unexpected turn. Originally, a new collaboration with Juan Carlos Calderón was planned, but the idea faded when he couldn't compose the necessary material. Faced with the urgency of fulfilling his record contract, and following his manager's suggestion, Luis Miguel decided to focus the project on the bolero. For this new direction, the record label WEA Latina called upon Mexican singer-songwriter Armando Manzanero to co-produce the album with Luis Miguel. The recording sessions began in August 1991 at Ocean Way Recording, located in Hollywood, California. Bebu Silvetti was responsible for the arrangements, shaping the twelve bolero interpretations that make up the album, songs originally recorded between 1944 and 1986.

Usted, with music composed by Gabriel Ruíz and Monis Zorrilla, has a duration of 3 minutes and 43 seconds. The album Romance became a milestone, demonstrating the versatility of Luis Miguel, who has successfully explored various genres throughout his career, from pop and funk to jazz, mariachi, and romantic ballads. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on April 19, 1970, Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri is a prominent figure in Latin American music. His career includes winning five Grammy Awards and four Latin Grammy Awards, establishing himself as one of the most distinguished Latin artists by the American academy.
