The story behind

The love ballad we propose you play, Still Loving You, is one of those pieces that, over time, become a band's hallmark. It was released in June 1984, as the second single from their ninth studio album, Love at First Sting. While it reached number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, its impact was much greater in Europe, where it ranked among the top five in several countries. The story behind its creation is interesting: Rudolf Schenker had already sketched parts of the melody back in 1976, but at that time, lead guitarist Uli Jon Roth considered it too commercial and rejected it. It wasn't until 1983 that the composition was completed, with Klaus Meine adding the lyrics. Schenker explained that the song narrates a love relationship that seems to be coming to an end, but where a last chance is attempted. The official music video, filmed in Dallas, Texas, premiered on July 3, 1984.

The recording of Still Loving You took place in 1983 at Dierks Studios in Stommeln, Germany. The album it is part of, Love at First Sting, was released in February 1984 in the United States and in March 1984 in the United Kingdom. This record is considered one of the most successful by Scorpions in the United States, reaching number 6 on the Billboard 200 in 1984. The album is characterized by its hard rock and glam metal sound, and includes other well-known tracks like Rock You Like a Hurricane and Big City Nights. Although the initial sessions for the album were carried out in 1983 at Polar Studios in Stockholm with musicians like Jimmy Bain and Bobby Rondinelli, the material recorded at that stage did not form part of the final record. The song has also appeared in the television series Cold Case and in the Polish film Gotowi na wszystko.
