The story behind
I’m Leaving You, according to DoReSol
When you dive into I’m Leaving You, you encounter a piece that condenses the power of the Scorpions at a key moment. The song, with a duration of 4 minutes and 17 seconds, is integrated into the band's ninth studio album, Love at First Sting. This album, released in February 1984 in the United States and in March of the same year in the United Kingdom, became a milestone for the German group, reaching its peak on the American charts. The recording of Love at First Sting took place at Dierks Studios, located in Stommeln, Germany. Although the first work sessions were carried out at Polar Studios in Stockholm during the summer of 1983, with the participation of musicians like Jimmy Bain and Bobby Rondinelli, the material resulting from those meetings did not form part of the final album.
The production of the album was handled by Dieter Dierks, who also took care of the mixing, while Gerd Rautenbach served as recording engineer. This process laid the groundwork for a sound that the band was exploring, moving between hard rock and heavy metal.
