The story behind
When you dive into *Rock You Like a Hurricane*, you encounter an energy that grabs you from the first chord. The song, which became an emblem of the Scorpions, has that power that makes you want to turn up the volume. The lyrics, for example, make a direct nod to the title of the album where it appears, *Love at First Sting*, as if it were a statement of intent from the album itself. Imagine being in the studio in 1983, with Dieter Dierks at the helm, and something with this strength coming out of those sessions. The recording took place at Dierks Studios in Stommeln, Germany, and although there were initial tests in Stockholm with other musicians, the final version we know was consolidated with the band.
This piece not only resonated on the radio but also crossed borders. It reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, greatly boosting the success of the album *Love at First Sting*, released in February 1984. The music video had heavy rotation on MTV, which undoubtedly amplified its reach. But the influence of *Rock You Like a Hurricane* goes beyond the charts. It has been recognized as a hard rock anthem, even named the eighteenth best song of this genre by VH1 in 2009. The riff, in particular, was highlighted as one of the best of the 80s. Furthermore, the image of the circuit on the single's cover was identified with the Jerez permanent circuit, in Spain. Over time, the song has been reinterpreted, as in the *Hurricane 2000* version with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra on the album *Moment of Glory* in 2000, or on the 2011 album *Comeblack*.
