The story behind
Bad Boys Running Wild, according to DoReSol
In the universe of Scorpions, the song Bad Boys Running Wild is presented with raw and direct energy. Its duration, barely 3 minutes and 56 seconds, concentrates a power that invites headbanging. This piece, part of the album Love at First Sting, was recorded at Dierks Studios in Stommeln, Germany. The recording process had some peculiarities: there were initial sessions at Polar Studios in Stockholm during the summer of 1983, featuring musicians like Jimmy Bain on bass and Bobby Rondinelli on drums, but ultimately, the material from those takes was not included in the final album. The album Love at First Sting, released in February and March 1984 by Mercury Records in the United States and Harvest Records in the United Kingdom respectively, became a high point for the German band.
It was their most successful work in the United States, reaching number 6 on the Billboard 200 that same year. The music on the album is described within the hard rock, heavy metal, and glam metal genres. The production of this album was handled by Dieter Dierks, who also participated in the recording engineering alongside Mike Beiriger, David Hewitt, and Gerd Rautenbach. The final mix was a collaborative effort between Mike Beiriger, Dieter Dierks, and the Scorpions themselves.
