The story behind

Quito veneno, according to DoReSol

In the first album by Aterciopelados, titled Con el Corazón en la Mano, we find the track Quito veneno. This song, lasting just 1 minute and 15 seconds, presents itself as a concise showcase of the energy that the Colombian band unleashed in their debut. The sound of this early work, recorded and mixed at Studio Master Producciones in Bogotá during the spring of 1993, carries the imprint of a punk heartbeat that manifests in several of its compositions.

The production of Con el Corazón en la Mano was handled by Juan Antonio Castillo, while the mixing duties fell to Richard Blair. This album, released in vinyl, cassette, and CD formats, marked the beginning of Aterciopelados as one of the most recognized groups in Latin American rock. Tracks such as «Mujer gala», «La cuchilla», and «Sortilegio» emerged as the band’s first local hits, helping the record reach sales close to 50,000 copies—a notable figure for the time in Colombia.
