When Charly García embarked on this project after the Sui Generis era, he sought to explore more complex musical paths and lyrics that moved away from adolescent themes. The result was La máquina de hacer pájaros, an album released in 1976 under the Talent Microfón label. The sonic proposal of this record departed from the conventional for the time, and the cover art, designed by Juan Oreste Gatti, reflected this ambition. The cartoonist Crist contributed a comic strip that presented the band as "a progressive bird," a metaphor that encapsulated their artistic direction.
