The story behind
Mucho más feliz, according to DoReSol
Much happier is how that moment sounds when a song grabs you and won’t let go. It’s not just the catchy rhythm or the straightforward lyrics, but that blend of urgency and tenderness that makes you hum it hours later without realizing. The track builds with an energy that feels like it’s bursting out of a live rehearsal, as if every instrument is improvising within a tight framework. There’s something in the way the guitar and bass converse that makes you feel like you’re hearing someone play for the first time, with a freshness rarely captured in a studio.
They recorded it in Santiago de Chile in March 2002, except for the track Clara, which was laid down in La Zapada (Montevideo) a month later. Mariano Pavéz handled the mixing in Chile, while Joaquín García and he finished the mastering at Clio. The entire album was born between La Zapada and Abril, two places already steeped in Uruguayan rock. When it was released to the public on October 12 of that year at the Teatro de Verano, the band was clear: they didn’t want to sound like anyone else. Between ska, reggae, and murga, Mucho más feliz is one of those songs that makes your feet move without warning.
