The story behind
The song *Mentre la notte va* has a duration of 4 minutes and 18 seconds. It is part of Laura Pausini's fifth studio album, titled Tra te e il mare, which was released on September 15, 2000. This album also had a Spanish version, Entre tú y mil mares, published on September 11 of the same year. The album debuted with 5 million copies sold and, to date, it is estimated to have sold over 5.5 million physical units.
The release of Tra te e il mare was preceded by the single of the same name, a composition by Italian singer Biagio Antonacci, which began playing on the radio on September 2, 2000. In 2001, the Spanish version of the album, Entre tú y mil mares, was nominated in the category of Best Female Pop Vocal Album at the Latin Grammy Awards. Throughout her career, Laura Pausini has been recognized with numerous awards, including three World Music Awards in 1994, 2003, and 2007, and an American Grammy in 2006 for "Best Latin Pop Album" with her album Escucha. She also received a Latin Grammy in 2005 in the Female Latin Pop Album category, also for Escucha.
