The story behind
The melody of Contigo en la distancia, performed by Luis Miguel, transports us to a carefully constructed sound universe. This track, which is part of the album *Romances*, draws on compositions spanning from 1940 to 1978, bringing songs from other eras to life with contemporary sensitivity. The production of this album, released in August 1997, was under the direction of Armando Manzanero, who had already collaborated on previous works in the *Romance* series. Alongside him, arranger Bebu Silvetti contributed his vision to shape these pieces, including two previously unreleased tracks created by themselves.
The recording of *Romances* took place in early 1997 at Ocean Way studios, located in Los Angeles, California. The result of this joint effort not only revitalized classics but also resonated strongly with the public, achieving sales of over 4.5 million copies and earning platinum certifications in several Latin American countries, as well as in the United States and Spain. The album's promotional tour took Luis Miguel to stages across the United States, Latin America, and Spain, consolidating the reach of these interpretations.
