Jovanotti

Jovanotti was born in Rome in 1966, son of three siblings. His family moved from Cortona, a city in Tuscany, to the Italian capital. From a young age, he was interested in music, and after finishing high school, he started playing in discos and clubs. There he became well-known, and soon he was offered opportunities to record his own songs.

In the 80s, he was already playing at festivals and on radio. His first big hit was Giovani Jovanotti, which came out in 1990. The song was released in Spanish and became a hit in Spain. Songs like Los números or Gente de la noche became very popular. Over time, he began to explore more varied sounds, mixing funk, pop and etno-fusion rhythms.

More about Jovanotti

Biography

In the mid-90s, his music became more complex. L´albero from 1997 was an example of how he could blend Afro-Latin rhythms, rock, hip-hop and funk. In 1999, with Capo Horn, he got closer to electronic sounds, but without losing his identity. That period was also one of tours through Italy and Germany, where he solidified his artist status.

In the 2000s, he tried to get closer to the Spanish audience with Pasaporte and Il quinto mondo, but it didn't have the same impact. Although it wasn't a success, the music he made during that period is still interesting. It was in 2005 when he found his style again, with Buon Sangue, an album that recovers the groove and melodies that made him famous. Songs like Tanto or Coraggio show how he remains a musician who doesn't stay still.
