Intoxicados

Intoxicados doesn’t sound like anyone else. Their music moves between raw rock and a mix of rhythms ranging from hip-hop to reggae, including funk and even electronic. They’re not a band that stays within the known: from the first chord, it’s clear they’re not trying to fit into a mold. That’s what made them different from the start, even for those who knew them beforehand.

The leap onto stages came quickly. In May 2001, just months after forming, they played their first show at Cemento in front of 2,500 people. The set mixed new tracks with classics from Viejas Locas, but it was already clear the sound had changed. Their first album, ¡¡Buen Día!!, recorded between July and September of that year, was released in November with "Quieren rock?" as its calling card. The second show the next day had half the crowd: many fans from the earlier era couldn’t accept the band branching out into other styles. But they pressed on.

More about Intoxicados

Biography

The album No es sólo rock n’ roll, released in October 2003, was the moment Intoxicados made it clear there was no turning back. At that year’s Cosquín Rock, they opened with "Una vela" purely in hip-hop style, leaving the audience stunned. The record blended reggae, funk, blues, and even punk, and took them to venues like Estadio Obras in April 2004. Between 2004 and 2009, the band crisscrossed the country on tours that included shows with Molotov, appearances at Quilmes Rock, and even a couple of dates at Anfiteatro Municipal de Necochea. Their music, always in motion, found an audience that followed them for that unique blend of energy and experimentation.
