About the album

Year of the Cat, according to DoReSol

The album cover, designed by Hipgnosis and drawn by Colin Elgie, shows a woman obsessed with cats. She is dressed as a cat for a party in front of a mirror, and everything she has on her vanity has feline motifs. The same idea was later used for his 2004 compilation album, but with things that referenced his other hits.

People received it with mixed opinions, but in general they appreciated it. Some called it an album with cold vocals and well-made arrangements, without being too pretentious. Others laughed at the way he sang, especially in On the Border, but acknowledged it as a good work of songwriting and guitar. The album became a favorite for testing audio equipment, and in the years that followed, it was considered a high point of his career.
