Two tracks from this work resonated strongly. On one hand, the single "Baby Come Back", co-written by J.C. Crowley and Peter Beckett, reached number one on the U.S. charts, staying there for 32 weeks. Shortly after, "This Time I'm in It for Love" also found its place, climbing to the tenth position on the same chart and remaining for 17 weeks.

The original tracklist included ten songs, among which are also "Come On Out", "Goodbye (That’s All I Ever Heard)", "Melanie", "Every Which Way", "Love Is Where You Find It", "Movin’ Up", "Cancellation", and "Tryin’ to Write a Hit Song". This collection of tracks shaped the sonic identity of Player’s first discographic effort.
