Fun facts
Player released a song called «Cancellation» from his first album, which has the same name. The song is part of a group of tracks made in 1975, written and produced by J. Crocker, Kailing and Steve Kipner. These tracks were intended for another band, the Bandana, but never appeared on an album.
The story behind
Player recorded "Cancellation" at ABC Studios, on Beverly Boulevard, while working with Phil Ramone. The song was part of the band's first album, which was never released. Previously, the band was called Riff Raff, but they changed their name to Bandana because there was already a British group with that title. At that time, they also wrote songs for other artists, such as Bill Halverson or Paul Simon. Steve Kipner, the guitarist, left the group in 1976 and was replaced by J.C. Crowley, from Texas.
The song was recorded along with others, such as "Movin'Up" and "Melanie," but the album didn't come out due to musical problems. "Cancellation" lasts 4 minutes and 7 seconds. Although it wasn't a commercial success, it remains part of the history of Player, a Los Angeles rock band that released their first album in 1977.
