Giros

When Fito Páez released Giros in 1985, he was already marking a before and after in his own career. This second studio work, published by EMI, became the solid starting point for his career, surpassing his previous Del 63 in terms of arrangements and sound quality. The compositions on this album explore deeper themes, and musically it dares to tread diverse paths, from a tango feel in the title track, to rhythms reminiscent of chacarera in "Yo vengo a ofrecer mi corazón", or even melodies that evoke baguala in "DLG". It is no coincidence that songs like "Yo vengo a ofrecer mi corazón" and "11 y 6" have transcended to become benchmarks of popular music in Argentina.

About the album

Giros, according to DoReSol

The gestation of Giros had particular moments. Tweety González, who collaborated in the pre-production, recalled working alongside Fito Páez in his parents' garage. Páez himself, in a 1985 interview for Pelo magazine, described the recording process, where all the songs were born from his pen and composition. This album, originally released in 1985, had a reissue in 2015, thirty years later, which included a remastered and extended version, revisited by the artist himself.

The list of acknowledgments in Giros reveals a close and collaborative circle, mentioning figures such as Mariano, Sergio Veliz, Ariel, Palito, Marcelo and Betty De Moebio, Carlos Piriz (El Nono Acústico), Osvaldo Fattorusso, Bigote Garcia (Charlie), Mono Fontona, L.A. Spinetta, Bar El Farolito, Ekuard, Los Ángeles Música, Pedro Aznar, Fabiana Cantilo, Chango Farias Gomez, Raul Sepulveda, Norberto Campos, Hugo Salguero, Pablo Rodriguez, Liliana Herrero, Juan Carlos Baglietto, Ruben Goldin, Fernando Moya and his family. The original tracklist included nine songs, among them "Giros", "Taquicardia", "Alguna vez voy a ser libre", "11 y 6", "Yo vengo a ofrecer mi corazón", "Narciso y Quasimodo", "Cable a tierra", "Decisiones apresuradas" and "D.L.G.".
