Eye of the Tiger

Survivor's Eye of the Tiger arrived in 1982, and from the outset, it felt different. This third album from the American band charted at number 2 on the Billboard charts in the United States. The title track, Eye of the Tiger, became a phenomenon, reaching the top of the charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom. It wasn't just a song; it was chosen to accompany the film Rocky III, giving an extra boost to its resonance. The overall sound of the album, produced by Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan, with engineering by Mike Clink and Phil Bonnano, captured an energy that resonated strongly.

About the album

Eye of the Tiger, according to DoReSol

Within the tracklist, in addition to the main theme, we find other pieces that stood out. American Heartbeat, for example, also had its moment of success, reaching number 17 in the United States and, like the title track, appeared on the charts in Germany. The song Ever Since the World Began, years later, was covered by Jimi Jamison, the lead vocalist, for the soundtrack of the film Lock Up, after Survivor temporarily disbanded in 1989. While initial critical reception had its nuances, with some publications noting that no other song reached the height of the title track, others like Record Mirror gave it a positive rating of four out of five stars.

This work, released by Scotti Brothers Records, proved its solidity over time. In October 1994, the Recording Industry Association of America awarded it double platinum certification, a recognition of its impact and sustained sales. The album, with its nine songs, including Feels Like Love, Hesitation Dance, The One That Really Matters, I’m Not That Man Anymore, Children of the Night, and Silver Girl, established itself as an important part of the band's discography.
