El león

When Los Fabulosos Cadillacs released El León in 1992, they were exploring a sound that uniquely blended Caribbean rhythms like salsa, calypso, and reggae with their ska foundation. This album, which became the Argentine group's sixth studio release, is a testament to that musical diversity. The original vinyl edition was quite limited, with only 500 copies available in Argentina, and it also included 12 tracks instead of the 15 found on the CD. This happened at a time when the compact disc format was beginning to gain ground.

About the album

El león, according to DoReSol

Several songs from this work became very well-known. Carnaval toda la Vida was the first single, followed by Gitana, Siguiendo la Luna, Manuel Santillán, el León, and Desapariciones. Although sales did not meet initial expectations, the album left a significant mark on the band's discography. Tracks like Arde Buenos Aires and El Crucero del Amor are also part of this collection of standout songs that, according to Vicentico and many of their followers, represents one of the best creative moments for Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. Rolling Stone magazine included it on its list of the best Argentine rock albums.
