54+1

When Danny Ocean released 54+1 in 2019, he presented his first studio work, a compendium of sounds that he himself conceived. The album, which arrived under the Atlantic Records label, draws mainly from rhythms like Dancehall and Latin Pop, with touches of Reggaeton, Reggae, and other Urban genres. The production of this material began in June 2017, shortly after the artist joined Warner Music Group. The album's title, which is read as "Fifty-four plus one," has a particular meaning: the "54" refers to the apartment in Caracas where Ocean lived and accumulated experiences that shaped his artistic identity. The "+1," on the other hand, alludes to the song "Swing," the only track on the album on which he collaborated with another co-writer.

About the album

54+1, according to DoReSol

Within 54+1, we find pieces that reflect an intimate and personal creative process. Some of the songs had been gestating long before Danny Ocean released his hit single "Me Rehúso," capturing what he himself describes as "the sound of his room." One example is "Báilame," a track recorded even before his move from Venezuela to Miami, which remained true to its original form despite suggestions for modifications. Another example of his ability to build distinctive melodies can be perceived in "Babylon Girl," a piece with rhythmic patterns that demonstrate his skill in creating sonic hooks. The album was mixed and mastered by Ricardo Sangiao in Miami, with the participation of engineers such as Chris Gehringer and Delbert Bowers.
