La storia dietro
a-ha lanciò Hunting High and Low nel giugno 1985, un album di synth-pop che li portò alla ribalta. Registrarono presso Eel Pie Studios, a Twickenham, Londra, con produttori che avevano lavorato anche in altri progetti. L'album contò cinque singoli, tra cui Take On Me, che divenne un successo internazionale. La band realizzò un video per la canzone, che combinava azione reale con animazione, qualcosa di innovativo in quel momento. Il video fu mostrato prima su una emittente locale e poi su MTV. Take On Me raggiunse la posizione numero uno negli Stati Uniti e due nel Regno Unito. Un altro singolo, The Sun Always Shines on T.V., ebbe anche un buon riscontro, soprattutto in Europa. L'album vendette più di 500 mila copie in tutto il mondo.
