Yendo de la cama al living

The story behind

Charly García wrote Yendo de la cama al living in 1982, as the first track of the homonymous album, his first solo disc. The song was born from a conversation with his son Migue, who was listening to a part of a song by Serú Girán and rewinding it to listen to it again. This made Charly think about how people relate to music, and he decided to do something simple, without complications. He started with two chords and a drum rhythm, and built the song little by little. The video made to promote it was the first in Argentina in that format, with images alternating between the studio and scenes that had nothing to do with it. It showed influence from the video of Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan, perhaps as a tribute. The song was recorded in August 1982, at the end of the Argentine dictatorship, in studios in Buenos Aires.
