The story behind

Willing and Able, according to DoReSol

The song Willing and Able, which is part of the album Diamonds and Pearls, was recorded with the participation of The New Power Generation, the band that accompanied Prince. This album, released on October 1, 1991, was the first on which Prince worked with this lineup. The album was released under the labels Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records, and singles such as Gett Off, Cream, Money Don't Matter 2 Night, Insatiable, and the title track were released from it. The holographic album cover features dancers Lori Werner (known as Lori Elle) and Robia LaMorte, who adopted the stage names "Diamond" and "Pearl" respectively. They were also present in the music videos for Cream, Strollin', Gett Off, and the title track, in addition to being part of the Diamonds and Pearls Tour. The musical composition of Willing and Able is a collaboration between The New Power Generation and Prince, who also took on the role of producer along with the band. Recording engineering was handled by Timothy Penn, while mixing was done by Michael Koppelman.

Prince Rogers Nelson, born in Minneapolis in 1958 and died in Chanhassen in 2016, was an American artist known for his work in genres such as rock, soul, funk, and new wave. During a period between 1993 and 2000, he adopted an unpronounceable stage name, which generated some controversy and led to him being referred to as "The artist formerly known as Prince." In the 1980s, he stood out as an influential and pioneering figure, being considered the creator of the so-called "Minneapolis sound." This musical style began to take shape on his third album, Dirty Mind, and was consolidated in 1981 with Controversy, in addition to notably influencing the debut album of The Time. His peak popularity came with the 1984 album Purple Rain and the film of the same name. In the United States, his album sales exceed 39.5 million, and worldwide they approach 100 million. The song Purple Rain earned him an Oscar for best original song score, and he also received a Grammy Award for that album, which included other hits such as When Doves Cry and Let's Go Crazy.
