The story behind
Daddy Pop, according to DoReSol
When you dive into Daddy Pop, you encounter an energy that invites you to move. It's a piece that, with its 5 minutes and 18 seconds of duration, envelops you in a contagious rhythm. The song's structure, conceived and arranged by both Prince and The New Power Generation, takes you on a sonic journey where every element is carefully placed. The recording engineering work fell to Timothy Penn, while the final mixing was handled by Keith Cohen, both working under the overall production of Prince and The New Power Generation.
This track is part of the album Diamonds and Pearls, released on October 1, 1991. This record marked a milestone, being Prince's first with his band The New Power Generation. The album, released by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records, generated several well-known singles such as Gett Off and Cream. On the album cover, which featured a holographic design, appeared dancers Lori Werner (known as Lori Elle) and Robia LaMorte, who were also "Diamond" and "Pearl" respectively. They not only adorned the cover but also participated in the videos for songs like Cream and Gett Off, and even were part of the Diamonds and Pearls Tour.
