The story behind

When It Comes, according to DoReSol

The song When It Comes, with its 4:00 duration, delves into the sonic atmosphere that Incubus was building. The track was recorded with the participation of Chris Kilmore on the turntables, who joined the band in February 1998, adding new layers to their sound. The mixing was handled by Scott Litt and Rick Will, while the production was a joint effort by Incubus and Scott Litt.

The band, formed in 1991 in Calabasas, California, was characterized by a fusion of influences that included spirituality, funk, and 1990s alternative rock. Originally, the core was composed of Brandon Boyd on vocals, Mike Einziger on guitar, Alex Katunich (known as Dirk Lance) on bass, and José Pasillas on drums. The arrival of Chris Kilmore in 1998, replacing Gavin Koppell (DJ Lyfe), was key to defining the group's electronic identity. Brandon Boyd stood out for his charisma and versatile voice, while Mike Einziger demonstrated great imagination on the guitar, experimenting with riffs and harmonies. After albums like Fungus Amongus (1995) and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. (1997), which earned them a cult reputation for their originality, the band continued to explore their sound.
