The story behind

Tô cansado, according to DoReSol

In Tô cansado, the Titãs condensed their frustration into a sharp riff that sounds like a sonic punch. The song lasts no more than two and a half minutes, yet in that time it conveys an energy that seems to escape the studio. The bass and drums intertwine with almost mechanical precision, as if each beat were a reminder that there is no room for fatigue in that moment. What’s interesting is that, despite its brevity, the track doesn’t feel rushed: the fast tempo clashes with the obsessive repetition of the lyrics, creating a sense of exhaustion that the listener can feel in their body.

The recording of Tô cansado was part of the Cabeça Dinossauro sessions, an album that marked a turning point in the Titãs’ sound. The band arrived at the Nas Nuvens studio in Rio between March and April 1986, under pressure to surpass the relative failure of their previous album, Televisão, and with the shadow of a couple of members fresh out of prison. Producer Liminha, who was then heading WEA, was instrumental in getting the album off the ground. The result not only earned them their first gold record that same year but also defined the path they would take from then on, blending punk, rock, and a rawness few expected from a Brazilian band at the time.
