The story behind
Sueños, according to DoReSol
When one approaches an artist's early creations, it is fascinating to see how the ideas that will later resonate globally begin to take shape. In the case of Shakira, her foray into the music world began very early, and Sueños is a clear reflection of that initial stage. This piece, lasting just over three minutes, was the first song recorded by the Colombian singer-songwriter. It was officially released on September 28, 1991, in her native country, as the fourth and final promotional single from the album Magia.
The music video for Sueños takes us to the city of Pereira, Colombia. In it, we see a young Shakira performing the song in front of the Iglesia del Carmen. A particular detail is that she used a single outfit throughout the entire film, which gives a very direct and personal feel to the visual production. Although this song, like the previous singles from Magia, did not achieve the expected commercial success, it represents a fundamental milestone in her career: the first tangible step on her artistic path. The album Magia, released on June 24, 1991, is a compilation of songs that Shakira began writing at the age of eight, along with other compositions inspired by her coastal experiences, adventures, and longings. It was recorded under the Sony Music Colombia label when she was only thirteen years old.
