The story behind
Sortilegio, according to DoReSol
When you dive into Sortilegio, the first sensation is one of raw energy, a beat that recalls the punk spirit, but filtered through a very particular sensibility. This track, which is part of Aterciopelados' debut album, Con el Corazón en la Mano, shows from the outset the band's potential to create sounds that resonated powerfully. The song has a duration of 4 minutes and 28 seconds, a time that allows for the development of that distinctive atmosphere that makes it so recognizable.
The recording of Con el Corazón en la Mano took place in the spring of 1993, at Studio Master Producciones in Bogotá. It was a key moment for the band, as this album laid the foundation for what would become a benchmark for rock in Latin America. The production was handled by Juan Antonio Castillo, while Richard Blair was in charge of the mixing, a job that helped shape the sound of this record which, for its time, was a considerable commercial success, selling around 50,000 copies in Colombia.
