The story behind
Small Talk, according to DoReSol
The song Small Talk, part of the album Joyride by Roxette, was recorded over an eleven-month period in Sweden. The duo, formed by Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, felt pressure from their record label to create an album that would follow the success of Look Sharp! and the single It Must Have Been Love, which was included in the soundtrack of the film Pretty Woman. Despite suggestions to move to Los Angeles and work with experienced American producers, they decided to stay in their country.
The album Joyride, released on March 25, 1991, was a success with both critics and the public. It went on to top the charts in seven European countries. For the recording of Small Talk, Anders Herrlin and Alar Suurna were responsible for the sound engineering, while the mixing involved Clarence Öfwerman, Roxette, and Alar Suurna. The production of the track was handled by Clarence Öfwerman. The song has a duration of 3:54.
