The story behind

The song *Rock'n Roll* by Daft Punk, with its 7 minutes and 34 seconds duration, is presented as a fundamental piece within their debut album, Homework. This work, released in January 1997 by Virgin Records and Soma Quality Recordings, emerged from the initial idea of publishing the music as independent singles. However, the amount of material that producers Thomas Bangalter and Guy‐Manuel de Homem‐Christo had accumulated led them to consolidate it into a full album. The title, Homework, makes direct reference to the fact that most of these recordings were gestated in a home studio.

The French duo Daft Punk, formed by Guy Manuel de Homem‐Christo (born in 1974) and Thomas Bangalter (born in 1975), had already been gaining ground in the electronic scene. After several singles that resonated on Soma Quality Recordings, they caught the attention of major record labels and signed with Virgin in 1996. The album Homework was well received in various markets, reaching prominent positions on charts in France, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Tracks like *Da Funk* and *Around the World* became hits on the dance charts in the United States, consolidating the duo's sonic proposal. Before forming Daft Punk, Bangalter and de Homem‐Christo were part of a group called Darlin', but it was the subsequent experimentation that led them to create their characteristic sound, considered essential within french house.
