The story behind
Recomeçar, according to DoReSol
Recomeçar by Roupa Nova has that instant catchy vibe: a rhythm that feels made to hum without thinking, with a melodic hook that repeats like a sticky loop. It’s not one of those long pieces with sudden shifts; in its two and a half minutes, the band manages to convey something direct, as if every note was crafted for the listener to feel close. The sound is clean, without excessive adornments, but with that warm touch that always defined the group, as if it were recorded in a space where music flows effortlessly.
The song is part of a key moment for the band: in 2009, Roupa Nova fulfilled an old dream by recording at the legendary Abbey Road in London, a studio that was already a legend even for Brazilian musicians. That project, titled Roupa Nova em Londres, not only gave them the chance to work in a place so steeped in history but also earned them a Latin Grammy. Before that, in 2004, they had already taken an important step with the release of the CD and DVD RoupAcústico, which not only sold over half a million copies across both formats but also won the industry’s top awards at the time. Those numbers aren’t a coincidence: the group had already been solidly established in Brazil for decades, with hits that played on radios and telenovelas, and a fanbase that grew over time.
