The story behind
Pienso en ti, according to DoReSol
When you immerse yourself in Pienso en ti, you encounter a piece that, despite its short duration of 2:28, condenses a particular energy. The composition and production of this song, as well as most of those that make up the album Pies descalzos, was a joint effort between Shakira and Luis Fernando Ochoa. They had previously collaborated on «¿Dónde estás corazón?», a track that marked one of the artist’s first major successes. The recording of this material spanned throughout 1994 and featured the participation of several sound engineers such as Sonido Azulado, Luly Deya, José Martínez, Camillo Montilla, Freddi Niño, and Victor Di Persia, while the mixing was handled by Juan Antonio Castillo.
The album Pies descalzos, of which Pienso en ti is a part, represents a milestone in Shakira’s career. It was her third studio work, but the first to be released internationally. Initially, it was released in Colombia on October 6, 1995, and shortly after, Sony Music Entertainment and Columbia Records took charge of its global distribution. This album, which includes standout tracks such as «Estoy aquí» and «Antología», was the result of a deep collaboration between Shakira and Luis Fernando Ochoa, who worked on the composition and production of the eleven songs that make it up. The artist, born in Barranquilla, Colombia, demonstrated from the start a creative facet that would lead her to explore different sounds and consolidate herself in the music market.
