The story behind

Pelado, according to DoReSol

The song Pelado, by Ultraje a Rigor, stands out for having been included in the soundtrack of the soap opera Brega e Chique, by Rede Globo. This track, along with others like A Festa and Eu Gosto de Mulher, was part of the album Sexo!!, released in 1987. The album was launched with an unexpected show at a shopping mall on Avenida Paulista, marking a particular moment in the band's discography, as they sought to break the idea that a first success was usually followed by failure.

The album Sexo!! also included Prisioneiro, where bassist Maurício Defendi took the lead vocals to tell the story of a corrupt politician. This song, due to its theme, was banned by the Federal Censorship from being broadcast on radio. Ultraje a Rigor, formed in the early 1980s in São Paulo, had already gained notoriety in 1983 with songs like Inútil and Mim Quer Tocar. In 1985, they consolidated their recognition with the album Nós Vamos Invadir sua Praia, which earned them the first gold and platinum record for rock in Brazil. The band's initial lineup included Roger (vocals and rhythm guitar), Leonardo Galasso on drums, Sílvio on bass, and Edgard Scandurra on lead guitar. Shortly after adopting the name, Sílvio was replaced by Maurício Defendi. Currently, Roger is the only member remaining from the original lineup. In 2011, the band participated in the program Agora É Tarde on Rede Bandeirantes, and later joined the cast of The Noite, a new talk show. The duration of Pelado is 3:28.
