The story behind
Eu gosto de mulher, according to DoReSol
The song Eu Gosto de Mulher, part of the album Sexo!! by Ultraje a Rigor, stands out for its contagious energy and themes that, for the time, broke the mold. Released in 1987, this second album by the Brazilian band aimed to consolidate its initial success, and Eu Gosto de Mulher was one of the tracks that helped achieve that goal. The song, along with others like A Festa and Pelado —the latter included in the soundtrack of the telenovela Brega e Chique— became part of a production that was presented to the public with an unexpected show at a shopping center on Avenida Paulista.
The context of Sexo!! was interesting: it sought to avoid the "fiasco" that often followed a successful debut album. The band, formed in the early 80s in São Paulo, had already taken important steps. In 1983, songs like Inútil and Mim Quer Tocar opened doors for them, and in 1985, with the album Nós Vamos Invadir sua Praia, they achieved a milestone for Brazilian rock by earning gold and platinum records. The original lineup included Roger (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Leonardo Galasso on drums, Sílvio on bass, and Edgard Scandurra on lead guitar; Maurício Defendi would later join on bass. The song Prisioneiro, for example, featured Defendi on lead vocals and told the story of a political thief, even being banned by the Federal Censorship.
