The story behind
A festa, according to DoReSol
The song A festa, by Ultraje a Rigor, stands out for its energy and for being one of the key pieces of the album Sexo!!, released in 1987. This album, which came after a successful debut, aimed to break the idea that a second work was usually a failure. The album's release was striking, with an impromptu concert in a shopping mall on Avenida Paulista.
Within Sexo!!, A festa shares the spotlight with other well-known tracks like Eu Gosto de Mulher and Pelado, the latter included in the soundtrack of a soap opera. A curiosity of the album is the song Prisioneiro, where bassist Maurício Defendi takes the lead vocals to narrate the story of a corrupt politician. However, this song had problems with federal censorship and could not be broadcast on the radio. The track A festa has a duration of 3 minutes and 39 seconds.
Ultraje a Rigor was formed in São Paulo in the early 80s. The group gained notoriety in 1983 with songs like Inútil and Mim Quer Tocar. In 1985, they consolidated their success with the album Nós Vamos Invadir sua Praia, which earned them gold and platinum records, marking a milestone for Brazilian rock. The initial lineup included Roger, Leonardo Galasso, Sílvio, and Edgard Scandurra, although Sílvio was replaced by Maurício Defendi shortly after. Today, Roger is the only original member remaining in the band. In 2011, Ultraje a Rigor participated in the program Agora É Tarde on Rede Bandeirantes, and they are currently part of the cast of the program The Noite on SBT.
