The story behind
Ojalá, according to DoReSol
Silvio Rodríguez wrote "Ojalá" in the 1960s, before releasing it on his album *Al final de este viaje* in 1978. The song was recorded in Spain, at the Sonoland Studios in Madrid, and is part of an album where the artist played only with his guitar. At that time, Silvio already had a repertoire of songs he had written since 1968, and "Ojalá" became one of the most well-known. The lyrics mix images of nature with contradictory emotions: it asks that the leaves do not touch the body, but also that something erase it suddenly. Some versions confuse the word "nievi" with "nieve", but the singer clearly sings it.
The song does not have a fixed meaning, but Silvio considers it a love song. Although it is not known exactly for whom, some say that Emilia Sánchez, a teacher in Camagüey, is the inspiration for several of his songs, including this one.
