The story behind

No Good sounds like a sharp blow that lingers. It's not Sumo's most famous track, but it has something that makes it hard to forget: that bassline that advances like a slow but unstoppable train, Luca Prodan's voice breaking just when it should rise, and an air that blends apathy with urgency. Recorded in an era when Argentine rock was breaking molds, this song stands firm without needing screams or flashy effects. Its strength lies in what it doesn't say as much as in what it does: a rhythm that refuses to be rushed and a melody that drags like a sigh between notes. The album Llegando los monos —from which this track comes— was recorded in 1986 at Obras Sanitarias, a place that already smelled of legend for local rock. Sumo self-produced it with Mario Breuer at the controls, but it was Walter Fresco who shaped it as artistic director. They weren't trying to sound like anyone else: they wanted each song to breathe on its own, and No Good is one of those that achieves exactly that. It lasted 4 minutes and 52 seconds, enough time for Ricota's bass and Sergio "Oveja" Dawi's drums —though not credited originally— to finish crafting a soundscape that still sounds fresh today.
