The story behind
The song *Me enamoré* by Chichi Peralta, with its 4:23 duration, immerses us in a sonic proposal that goes beyond the conventional. On his second album, *De Vuelta Al Barrio*, released on April 18, 2000, Peralta demonstrated remarkable audacity by fusing styles. Here, son intertwines with jazz, merengue meets guaguancó, pop dialogues with African rhythms, and bachata is adorned with Brazilian and Arabic influences. This amalgamation of genres, which includes the participation of the London Symphony Orchestra and the choirs of *Luz Africa*, was recorded in sessions held in Paris, France, and earned him a Latin Grammy.
The career of Chichi Peralta, born on July 9, 1966, in Santo Domingo, reflects his deep connection with music from an early age. He began exploring percussion at age 4, building his first instrument. During the 1980s and 1990s, he established himself as a professional percussionist, being part of renowned groups such as Fernando Echavarría y la Familia André, Trilogía, and, for eight years, Juan Luis Guerra's band 4.40. His foray as a soloist and producer came on July 15, 1997, with the international release of his first album, *Pa' Otro La'o*. Subsequently, in 2005, he presented his album *Más que suficiente*, which also received nominations for the Grammy and the Lo Nuestro award in 2006, and became one of the best-selling Latin albums in Japan, according to the specialized chain Disk Union.
