The story behind

The song *Maximillian Sheldon* is one of the pieces that make up the second studio album by Ultraje a Rigor, titled Sexo!!. This work, released in 1987, was presented to the public with an unexpected show at a shopping mall on Avenida Paulista. The album aimed to break the idea that a successful first album was usually followed by a less impactful one. Within Sexo!!, tracks like *A Festa*, *Eu Gosto de Mulher*, *Pelado* —which was part of the soundtrack for Rede Globo's telenovela *Brega e Chique*—, *Terceiro*, and *Maximillian Sheldon* itself stand out. A peculiarity of this album is the song *Prisioneiro*, where bassist Maurício Defendi takes the lead vocals to narrate the story of a corrupt politician who benefits from drug trafficking and corruption. This theme led to the song being censored and unable to be broadcast on radio by the Federal Censorship. The duration of *Maximillian Sheldon* is 4 minutes and 15 seconds.

Ultraje a Rigor is a Brazilian rock band that emerged in the early 1980s in São Paulo. It was conceived by Roger Moreira, who was responsible for vocals and rhythm guitar. The band gained notoriety in 1983 with songs like *Inútil* and *Mim Quer Tocar*. In 1985, they consolidated their national recognition with the album Nós Vamos Invadir sua Praia, which earned them the first gold and platinum record for Brazilian rock. This same album was later recognized as the "best national rock album" by MTV Magazine in December 2008. The original lineup included Roger, Leonardo Galasso on drums (known as Leôspa), Sílvio on bass, and Edgard Scandurra on lead guitar. After the adoption of the band's name, Sílvio left the group and was replaced by Maurício Defendi. Today, Roger is the only original member remaining in the band. In 2011, Ultraje a Rigor participated in the program *Agora É Tarde*, on Rede Bandeirantes, hosted by Danilo Gentili. Currently, they are part of the SBT lineup, participating in Gentili's new program, *The Noite*.
