Más que a nadie

The work of Joan Manuel Serrat draws from a rich literary vein, with clear influences from poets such as Mario Benedetti, Antonio Machado, Miguel Hernández, Rafael Alberti, Federico García Lorca, Pablo Neruda, Joan Salvat-Papasseit, and León Felipe. Added to this is a diversity of musical genres, from Catalan folklore and Spanish copla to tango, bolero, and the popular songbook of Latin America, having covered songs by artists such as Violeta Parra and Víctor Jara. Serrat is also recognized as one of the promoters of the Catalan Nova Cançó. He is affectionately known as "El noi del Poble-sec", referring to his native neighborhood, or simply "El Nano". His contribution to Spanish music and literature has earned him accolades such as nine Honoris Causa doctorates and the Latin Grammy award "Person of the Year" in 2014.
