The story behind
Magia, according to DoReSol
When Shakira was just thirteen years old, she was already recording her first album with Sony Music Colombia in 1990. From that period emerged *Magia*, a song that, while it didn't have a major global commercial impact, did resonate within Colombia. To accompany this debut single, a music video was filmed that captured images of a local park and an apartment in her native country. The piece, with a duration of 4:45, is a window into the beginnings of an artist who, born in Barranquilla, Colombia, in 1977, already showed her musical vocation from a very young age, composing her first lyrics around the age of eight.
The album of the same name, *Magia*, released in June 1991, is a compilation of songs that Shakira wrote since childhood, along with other compositions inspired by personal experiences, adventure stories, and coastal life longings. Although the recording process, carried out under the Sony Music Colombia label when she was thirteen, presented challenges in terms of cohesion and recording, the result was a first album that laid the groundwork for her future career. This initial work, despite selling only about 1200 copies, represents the starting point of an artist who would later explore genres like Latin pop and achieve international recognition.
