The story behind
Machete, according to DoReSol
Machete sounds like one of those songs you hum without realizing it. The guitar riff that opens the track has a weight that doesn’t let go, as if the bass and drums had agreed not to release the rhythm for even a second. It’s not a song that invites you to dance, but it does make you nod your head involuntarily, with that mix of urgency and boldness that often appears when a band feels comfortable in the studio.
The album Este fuerte viento que sopla was recorded in Santiago de Chile in early 2002, except for Clara, which was finalized in Montevideo a month later. It was mixed by Mariano Pavéz and polished at Clio, also in Chile. The presentation took place at Montevideo’s Teatro de Verano that same October, and since then the band hasn’t stopped touring the country. Machete lasts just under four minutes, but in that time it achieves something not everyone manages: sounding complete, without filler.
