Lookaway

The story behind

Sepultura recorded Lookaway as part of their album Roots, which was released in Europe on February 20, 1996. The song lasts five and a half minutes, and feels like a journey through Brazilian rhythms, with percussion that intertwines as if they were talking to each other. At that time, Max Cavalera was still with the band, but already knew he was going to leave at the end of the year. The piece has an energy that moves between the rhythmic and the introspective, as if the music were trying to say something that cannot be expressed with words. The collaboration of Carlinhos Brown gives it a distinct touch, as if the song had a rhythm that moved between the folkloric and the heavy.
