The story behind
La cuchilla, according to DoReSol
The first time Aterciopelados released La cuchilla, it was as part of their debut album, Con el Corazón en la Mano, in 1993. This album, which marked the beginning of their career, was recorded and mixed in Bogotá, at Studio Master Producciones. The production was handled by Juan Antonio Castillo, while the mixing was done by Richard Blair. The sound of this initial work already hinted at the punk energy that would characterize them, and songs like La cuchilla, along with Mujer gala and Sortilegio, became their first resonant tracks within the local scene.
The impact of Con el Corazón en la Mano was considerable for the time, reaching sales close to 50,000 copies, a remarkable figure for any Colombian artist back then. The duration of La cuchilla is 2 minutes and 1 second, a concise format that, however, managed to capture the band's essence and position them as an important proposal within Latin American rock.
