The story behind

Jimmy Jimmy, according to DoReSol

Jimmy Jimmy sounds like a quick sketch, almost a draft someone left on the table of a half-assembled studio. At just two minutes and twenty seconds, the song has that urgency of someone testing ideas without worrying too much about polishing them. It’s not a track you listen to seeking technical perfection, but rather the kind of piece that captures a moment: a riff that repeats insistently, a voice that moves forward without adornment, and a melody that seems to slip away before it ends.

Recorded in 1988, Jimmy Jimmy is part of a Demo titled Novela, material that never became an official album. As the story goes, the project began as a soundtrack for a short film that never materialized due to lack of funds, so those tapes remained as a testament to a path that almost wasn’t. Of the fourteen songs on the Demo, some ended up on other albums by the artist with name changes: As de Poker became Circo Beat in 1994, Las brujitas ended up on a children’s album called Piojos y piojitos (1991) as Ay, and Novela was later reworked by Fabiana Cantilo in Sol en Cinco (1995) under the title Nada es para siempre.
