This song was born in a catch-all drawer: El amor is one of those pieces that Fito Páez kept in a Demo from 1988, a project that never became the album to accompany the soundtrack of a short film. The material remained there, with its 14 tracks, some of which would later reappear under different names and in other albums. But this one in particular stayed in the drawer, like a sketch that time did not completely erase.

The mix of El amor was credited to Carlos Narea, Fito Páez and Nigel Walker, a detail that speaks to its recording process: it was not a studio whim, but a team effort where each contributed their ear. Beyond its uncertain origins, the song eventually became part of the Novela catalog, that unofficial album which today serves as a testament to a period when Fito Páez was exploring sounds without knowing that, years later, some of those melodies would resonate in his most well-known records.
