The story behind
When Laura Pausini released Il mio sbaglio più grande, she already had a consolidated career, but this song, released as the second single from her album Tra te e il mare in January 2001, marked an interesting moment in her career. The musical composition was handled by Andreas Carlsson and Alistair Thomson, while the lyrics, both in Italian and its Spanish adaptation titled Un error de los grandes, were written by Laura Pausini herself along with Cheope and Giuseppe Dati. The Spanish version was included in the album Entre tú y mil mares and had a similar release in Spain and Latin America.
The production of Il mio sbaglio più grande and its Spanish version involved the creation of two music videos, both directed by Alberto Colombo and filmed in Milan. In these audiovisual productions, Laura Pausini can be seen performing with her band on a stage with a futuristic aesthetic. A particular detail is the appearance of her sister, Silvia Pausini, in the video. Furthermore, in 2001, a "Making of" of this music video was released, available on the Warner Music website. The song also found its place in various compilations and special editions, such as The Best of Laura Pausini - E ritorno da te (2001), the Japanese edition of From the Inside as a Bonus Track (2003), and live on the DVD Live 2001-2002 World Tour (2002). The Spanish version, Un error de los grandes, was included in Lo mejor de Laura Pausini - Volveré junto a ti (2001) and in the live albums Laura Live World Tour 09 and Laura Live Gira Mundial 09 (2009) as part of a Medley Pop.
Subsequently, in 2002, Il mio sbaglio più grande was adapted into English under the title Every Day Is a Monday and was included in the album From the Inside, released in Italy in 2003. A remastered version of this song appeared in 2013 on the albums 20 - The Greatest Hits and 20 - Grandes Exitos.
