The story behind
Hasta que me olvides, according to DoReSol
The story behind *Hasta que me olvides* is fascinating. It is a ballad that the protagonist dedicates to his love, insisting that he will continue loving until he is completely forgotten. If the other person no longer feels anything, he will decide to leave. This deep expression of feelings was born in a very particular way: the Dominican composer Juan Luis Guerra wrote it on a napkin after a casual encounter with Luis Miguel in Mexico.
This musical piece, part of the ninth studio album by Luis Miguel, Aries (1993), was released as the second single in August of that same year. The production was handled by Luis Miguel himself alongside Kiko Cibrian, who had already collaborated with him. The album Aries sought a sound that strayed from the collections of boleros that had been a great success for the artist, exploring pop ballads, jazz, and dance with touches of R&B. For the recording of Aries, several renowned studios in Hollywood and Los Angeles were used, such as Ocean Way Recording, Record One, and Larrabee Sound Studios. The song had a major commercial impact, reaching the first position on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart in the United States, becoming the ninth number one hit for Luis Miguel on that list. It also received recognition in awards, being nominated at the Lo Nuestro Awards in 1994 and winning a BMI Latin Award in 1995. A version of this song was performed by Diego Boneta for the soundtrack of the series about the life of Luis Miguel in 2018.
