The story behind
The song *Fresh* has a duration of 4 minutes and 4 seconds. It is a piece that, although its origin on the album *Homework* is not explicitly mentioned, shares the spirit of that debut work by Daft Punk. This album, released in January 1997 in France and in March of the same year in the United States, was the result of a creative process that began with the idea of releasing singles separately. However, the amount of material that Thomas Bangalter and Guy‐Manuel de Homem‐Christo had accumulated led them to consider the possibility of a full album. The title itself, *Homework*, refers to the fact that much of the music was created in a home studio.
The French duo, who had already been exploring the house sound and laying the groundwork for french house, consolidated their sound with this first album. Before forming Daft Punk, Bangalter and de Homem‐Christo were part of a band called Darlin'. After its dissolution, they began to experiment together, laying the foundations for what would become their best-known project. Their work on *Homework* allowed them to sign with Virgin Records in 1996, after having attracted attention with previous releases on Soma Quality Recordings. The album was well received on charts in several countries, reaching third place in France and eighth in the United Kingdom. Tracks like *Da Funk* and *Around the World* became hits on the dance charts in the United States.
