The story behind

Esta es la historia de un amor, according to DoReSol

When you dive into *This is the story of a love*, you encounter a piece that goes beyond a simple genre label. Although it is associated with techno-pop, the truth is that Mecano's music was characterized precisely by that freedom of not being pigeonholed. Here, the atmosphere is built through layers of keyboards, creating different sonic "veils" that do not seek to grab attention, but rather to envelop. The percussion of an acoustic drum kit gives an earthly pulse to this ethereal construction. The lyrics, for their part, are quite concise; to lengthen the song, the repetition of certain phrases is used, which, although they do not function as a traditional chorus, do give it a recognizable structure. In the musical bridge, some vocal flourishes appear, those sounds that do not seek literal meaning, and the song closes with an extensive coda, something very characteristic of Nacho Cano's compositions.

The narrative of *This is the story of a love* presents us with a man who is completely overwhelmed by the feeling of love. He tries to show his beloved how much he loves her through gifts and details, such as "all the flowers he can buy her" and "all the endless nights." This devotion is intertwined with a life of excess and revelry, of "party nights all over the city" without getting tired of dancing. This track is the B-side of the single *Ay qué pesado*, the first promotional cut from the album *Entre el cielo y el suelo*, released in 1986. This album, released through Sony, marked a turning point for Mecano, initiating a stage of greater creative and technical maturity that would open the doors to international success. The album, which sold over a million copies in Spain alone, consolidated José María Cano's figure as a composer, balancing the creative scale with his brother Nacho.
