The story behind
En ausencia de ti, according to DoReSol
The song *En ausencia de ti* was born as a pop ballad that, according to data, was released in 1998 as part of Laura Pausini's fourth studio album, titled *La mia risposta*. What's interesting is that this musical piece gave rise to several versions in different languages, with the original being in Italian, *In assenza di te*. The English version, *It's Not Goodbye*, appeared at the end of 2003 and was the one that served as the basis for the others. Although only the Spanish and Italian versions had their own music videos, the single became one of the most enduring songs in Pausini's repertoire, helping to give visibility to the album along with another hit, *Un'emergenza d'amore*.
Before its official release as a single, *En ausencia de ti* was already resonating strongly in Brazil, forming part of the soundtrack of the telenovela *Pecado Capital*. This connection with the Brazilian public led to the creation of a special edition of the single intended exclusively for that market. The song's influence transcended borders, being covered by Israeli singer Sarit Hadad in Hebrew as *Ha-ezev Betochi* (or *The Sadness Within Me*), and later adapted into Malay as *Aku Masih Setia*. More recently, in 2021, the English version was reinterpreted by Janella Salvador for her album *Melody of Love with Janella*. The musical composition of this song is the work of Antonio Galbiati, Cheope, and Laura Pausini herself.
